Creative Institute Trenčín already has directors

The Board of Trustees of the Creative Institute Trenčín (CIT) has approved the results of the selection process. It confirmed Lucia Dubačová and Lenka Kuricová, who led the Trenčín 2026 team during the successful candidacy, as directors of CIT.


According to the good practice of the European Capitals of Culture (ECOC), the CIT has an executive and creative leadership. Lucia Dubačová became the director. Lucia took over the Trenčín 2026 team in autumn 2020 and successfully led it through both selection rounds of the competition.

Lenka Kuricová is the artistic director responsible for the ECOC programme. During the candidacy, she was in charge of the strategy and setting up quality creative and artistic content in cooperation with Slovak and foreign artists and organisations.

Silvia Hroncová, Chair of the CIT Board of Trustees, said that both candidates for directors fulfilled all the formal requirements, passed the first round and in the second round proved that they have the professional capacity and qualifications to perform the positions of directors.


M.A. Lucia Dubačová studied business in culture and creative industries at Goldsmiths University in London. She works as a cultural manager and curator, focusing on digital and multimedia art and design. She has worked on the teams of the UK Secret Garden Party and Wilderness Festival, the Slovak Fest Anča and the Czech IDFF Ji.hlava, as well as the Slovak Design Centre’s Inolab. In Slovakia she founded Sensorium Festival.


Mgr. Art Lenka Kuricová graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in the studio of Ilona Németh and has had internships in Spain and Portugal. She has worked at the Bratislava Kunsthalle, Amnesty International, co-founded the creative company Pucle, and coordinated the programme of TEDxTrenčín. She has participated in international contemporary art festivals and exhibitions such as CologneOFF or Venice International Art Fair. She has been working in the Trenčín 2026 team since its beginnings in 2020.
