May in Trenčín: A Month of Meetings, Sharing, and Stories. May in Trenčín will be all about gathering, sharing, and celebrating the small yet meaningful stories created by our neighbours. The Lively Neighbourhoods project once again brings new life to courtyards, housing estates, and public spaces – this time with a focus on greenery, togetherness, and shared moments.
We are preparing two vibrant community gatherings, blending ideas from across Slovakia, creating spaces for both children and adults, and offering creative workshops, exchanges of experiences – and even flavours.
In May, we’ll remind ourselves that even ordinary urban places can become extraordinary when people come together with a shared purpose: to cultivate, create, and belong.
Saturday Morning at Sihoť: Lively Neighbourhoods in the Community Garden
On the Sihoť housing estate, Saturday morning will open up a space for those who want to create new green spots in the city together.
In collaboration with the local community and guests from Košice – the team behind the Na Suti community garden – you can look forward to a lovely morning full of shared experiences, inspiration, and hands-on creativity.
Program:

9:00 – 10:00: Presentation of the successful story of the Na Suti community garden from Košice, in the seminar room at Penzión na Sihoti (Jiráskova 5), including a discussion and Q&A.

9:00 – 12:30: Photo exhibition of the Na Suti garden in the courtyard on Švermová Street.

10:30 – 12:30: Creative activities for children – making pollinator houses and decorative plant labels.

10:30 – 12:30: Seedling and plant swap – bring your extras and take home something new!

10:30 – 12:30: Community picnic – bring goodies from your kitchens or gardens to share around a communal table.

All Sihoť residents, nature lovers, beginner and experienced gardeners, families with children, and anyone who wants to be part of an active community.

Afternoon at Dlhé Hony: BBQ, Yoga, and Music Under the Stars
The Dlhé Hony neighbourhood will also enjoy a special day as part of Lively Neighbourhoods.
The market hall at Dlhé Hony will transform into a lively place filled with the smells of grilled food, a relaxed atmosphere, and good music.
Program:

16:00 – 21:00: Grilling and barbecuing – bring your favourite food to grill or enjoy what we prepare. Grills, a fire pit, and bread will be available.

17:00 – 17:45: Yoga for everyone – whether you’re a beginner or an experienced yogi, enjoy a relaxing outdoor session.

20:00: The market hall in a new light – special lighting installation and an acoustic concert by a local artist.
A special part of the event will be the festive opening of the Neighbourhood Table – a new pavilion built from recycled materials, designed for relaxation, conversations, and spending time together.
