From 25 July, the FORMAAT Gallery in Trenčín will present the exhibition AUTOREPORT, which brings together three renowned artists of the middle generation – Pavlína Fichta Čierna, Mark Ther and Viktor Frešo. Their works reflect personal and social themes of identity, gender and self-reflection in a contemporary visual language across media.
Czech-Slovak testimony on identity
The exhibition AUTOREPORT (25 July – 14 September 2025) offers visitors to the FORMAAT Gallery in Trenčín an exceptional visual probe into the theme of self-portraiture, gender identity and authorial statement. The work of Pavlína Fichta Černá (1967), Mark Ther (1979) and Viktor Frešo (1974) enters a mutual dialogue that crosses the borders of both state and media. “Contemporary art becomes a mirror of identity – whether personal, social or national. The exhibition AUTOREPORT follows these reflections as a visual diary of the last decade,” says Vladimír Beskid, the exhibition’s curator.
Context and artistic shift
The exhibition offers not only a contemporary cross-section of the artists’ work, but also a “visual monitoring” of the artistic development of each artist over the past decade. Hence the title AUTOREPORT – as a metaphorical report on the journey of one’s own creation and identity.
Curator Vladimír Beskid adds, “Each of the artists follows their own trajectory, but their works meet in a common space of reflection on the body, memory, trauma and the search for personal truth. The exhibition is therefore a unique intersection, where the current state of not only fine art but also society as a whole is mirrored.”
The exhibition Autoreport is an activity of the project Rooted in Trenčín, which is part of Trenčín 2026. Trenčín 2026 is financially supported by the City of Trenčín, the Trenčín Self-Governing Region and the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic. The project partner is the European Union.
