AUTOREPORT Exhibition at Galéria FORMAAT presents Pavlína Fichta Čierna, Mark Ther, and Viktor Frešo in a unique Czech-Slovak dialogue about identity and the portrait of our times.

What can lie behind a self-portrait? And what happens when three artists from different cultural contexts present their personal statements side by side?

The AUTOREPORT exhibition at Galéria FORMAAT is more than just a showcase of visual artworks. It is a collective visual report on how we perceive ourselves – touching on physicality, memory, and the ways in which art reveals identity. From July 25 to September 14, 2025, visitors are invited into an intense Czech-Slovak dialogue between three exceptional artists – Pavlína Fichta Čierna, Mark Ther, and Viktor Frešo.

Three Perspectives – One Theme: Identity

The exhibition’s curator, Vladimír Beskid, describes it as a “visual diary of the past decade.” Each artist uses a different medium, yet all intersect at the crossroads of questions about who we are – both as individuals and as a society.

  • Pavlína Fichta Čierna has long explored themes of vulnerability and social exclusion. Her new work Sighs of the National Gender delves into intimate processes of self-discovery through photography and installation.

  • Viktor Frešo brings a clever mix of egocentrism and irony. Works like Neon Viki and Madracík combine pop-art gestures with personal nostalgia. His installation Situation with Trapuľko creates a visual imprint of family history and childhood memories.

  • Mark Ther moves between fiction and documentary. His controversial video Sortir k.rvo, čubko takes viewers into the world of 19th-century Parisian brothels, while his drawings from the Broumov region connect the landscape with the fragility of personal identity.

An Exhibition as a State-of-the-World Report

The name AUTOREPORT is no coincidence. All the works serve as metaphorical reports on where the artists stand – in their lives, in society, and in art. This exhibition is not only a visual experience, but also a conceptual map leading from the intimate to the public, from the familiar to the unknown.

“Each artist follows their own trajectory, yet their works meet in a shared space of reflection on the body, memory, trauma, and the search for personal truth,” adds Vladimír Beskid. And it is precisely within this mosaic of different statements that a powerful new image of the present emerges.

A Place Where Image, Thought, and Emotion Converge

AUTOREPORT is not just an exhibition. It is an invitation to slow down, to look at ourselves and our society through a new lens. For nearly two months, Galéria FORMAAT transforms into a space where visual language, philosophy, and lived experience come together.

Come and immerse yourself in this visual essay on identity. You might even discover your own self-portrait within it.
