Open Call: Ozveny / Echoes – 1. phase

I. Introduction

Ozveny (Echoes) is a digital art platform operating under the Trenčín 2026 – European Capital of Culture framework. We invite artists to intervene in public spaces using new media to create a dialogue between technology, history, and the urban environment. This is the first phase of open calls for project Ozveny, next waves will be opened later this year focusing on other locations from the Trenčín region.

II. Artistic Brief

We are seeking site-specific audiovisual work. The project should not be a “generic” projection; it must be rooted in the history of Trenčianske Teplice and its value as a healing spa city. These themes could be reflected in the more general manner of spa culture, modernist and socialist era architecture, fall of Soviet Union and subsequent privatization, or other contemporary social and health related themes.

The work should be considered new media art, including technology with art in mediums like projection mapping, interactive art, light art, laser projection, led screens, sound art, etc.. We are also open to performances with reserved spaces that need audience sign-up, that would happen inside the spa space like Hammam. The prime target for the artwork is the hydro-electric plant, because of its position in public space.

We will offer consultations about architecture and historical context in greater detail to the winner of the open call.
