The installation will be located under the castle for the entire month of October.
Air Observatory is an interactive installation by the Dusts Institute collective that makes visible what usually remains unnoticed in the air. A five-meter rotating wheel with twelve colored filters allows visitors to look at the horizon through different air-quality scenarios. Each filter represents a specific atmospheric condition, based on real data on dust particles collected throughout the year in Trenčín.
The Air Observatory invites visitors to experience how the color of the air changes during smog, summer heatwaves, or pollen season. Looking through the filters reveals how dust affects the horizon and even transforms the well-known festival sunset into a reminder of what we all breathe together. At the same time, the installation offers a journey through time: it allows us to experience how the air changes throughout the year and presents scenarios of the future in the era of climate crisis.
