Aurelius Q & Guests

World Music Fúzie, in cooperation with the World Music Festival Bratislava, brings another exceptional concert where jazz, blues, folk elements, and original musical approaches seamlessly blend.

The main act of the evening is Aurelius Q, a Trenčín legend and a long-standing pillar of the Slovak jazz scene. They will be joined on stage by special guests – the project Modrosvit and the charismatic bluesman Juraj Turtev. Together, they will create an atmosphere where musical worlds meet, intertwine, and inspire one another.

Aurelius Q

A jazz band from Trenčín with a rich history dating back to 1991. The year 2026 is special for the group as they celebrate 35 years on the music scene. The band ranks among the formations that have continuously shaped both regional and Slovak jazz.

After attending jazz workshops in Bratislava in 1992 and 1993, Aurelius Q established themselves on the club scene with both original and interpreted compositions. A successful performance at the Žilina Jazz Festival in 1993 led to a series of concerts across Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Their search for an authentic sound culminated in their debut album Hore bez dolu jazz.

The band was instrumental in founding the Trenčín Jazz Festival and has collaborated with prominent figures of the jazz, blues, and world music scenes – Jana Koubková, Andrej Šeban, Erik Rothenstein, Sisa Michalidesová, Peter Lipa, Ruslan Nikolajev, Janko Babič, the vocal trio Krajka, and ethno projects such as Mango Molas and Tubabu.

Their close connection to Slovak folklore evolved into unconventional jazz arrangements of folk songs, featured on the albums Folk ways and Folk ways II, which today form the core of their live repertoire. The band has also released a holiday album Koledy v modrom, complemented by jazz standards and inventive rearrangements of rock evergreens in funky, groove, and Latin styles.

Current lineup of Aurelius Q:

  • Peter Belák – guitars, percussion

  • Erich Vladár – keyboards

  • Ivan Letaši – bass guitar

  • Peter Sedlák – vocals, percussion

  • Dušan Rozemberg – drums

Guests of the event

Modrosvit

Modrosvit is a new music project by Trenčín jazz musician Erich Vladár and the members of the vocal group Krajka, first prominently introduced at the event Prieniky (2025). The project blends traditional Slovak folk songs with modern jazz sensibilities and improvisation.

Their music is energetic, emotional, and full of unexpected musical twists. In the summer of 2025, Modrosvit performed at several indoor and outdoor concerts – on the promenade, in Pražiareň, and on other stages.

Modrosvit lineup:

  • Magda Uhliariková, Beáta Dobiašová – vocals

  • Erich Vladár – keyboards

  • Martin Horný – guitar

  • Dušan Rozemberg – drums

Juraj Turtev

A singer, guitarist, lyricist, bandleader, and presenter – a figure who has shaped the Slovak blues scene. Juraj “Dura” Turtev is a co-founder of the band Bluesweiser and a musician whom Czech journalist Karel Prokeš once called “the shaman of Slovak blues.”

His work is marked by spontaneous energy, an authentic musical expression, and lyrics that reflect everyday life with humor and gentle nostalgia. Turtev is often seen as “the heart of the blues” in the eastern part of the former Czechoslovakia.

From 1992 to 1996, he lived in Australia, where he became a member of the Sydney Blues Society and gained experiences that significantly shaped his musical expression. A memorable highlight of this period was meeting legendary pianist Johnny Johnson, long-time collaborator of Chuck Berry.

Throughout his career, Turtev has collaborated with numerous musicians, including Miloš Železňák, Štefan Lengyel, Ivan Tomovič, Juraj Schweigert, and Roman Horváth. His repertoire is built on original compositions – songs filled with blues honesty and the poetry of everyday life.

Boboš Procházka

Erich “Boboš” Procházka is a leading Slovak harmonica player, best known for his work on the blues scene. He has been playing the harmonica for over three decades and has appeared on dozens of albums across various genres. He has collaborated with many Slovak artists. In 2003, he received the Aurel Award for Best Instrumental Performance.
