The original play Béčka by Michal Belej was created on commission for the artistic collective Príchod Godota. The production is built on personal experiences and doubts that haunt actress Heidi Šinková and actor Ľuboš Janák.
Both are professionally trained actors who have not yet attained worldly fame—and with each passing year, the question of why that is becomes increasingly pressing. Standing above the abyss of recognition, they themselves are unsure whether one day they will manage to jump into it, fall into it, or simply remain at its edge shedding tears—just like each and every one of us secretly does before a high school reunion after many years.
Statistically, it has been calculated that fame can be experienced by 0.0086% of the population. In Slovakia, this represents 466 people. This number includes people from business, politics, the media, expert professions such as doctors or scientists, as well as reality show participants and influencers. Only a fraction of this number belongs to people in dramatic arts—yet every year approximately 30 new actors and actresses graduate from our schools.
