Do you know what biopatina is? What does it mean for us, for architecture, and for the urban environment?
Discover the microscopic environments and biotopes of the city together with artist and researcher Adam Hudec and architect Natália Štundová. Together they form the Dusts Institute and focus on researching the surfaces of urban space and environment.
What color shades can Biopatinas have? Biopatinas consist of various types of algae, bacteria, and fungi, with each of these microorganisms capable of creating a specific color. We point out where naturally occurring stains appear, what they are, where they come from, what their meaning, function, and potential are. What makes a facade visually unattractive? How should architectural surfaces look and why?
Participants of the workshop will explore biopatinas on buildings in the historical center of the city of Trenčín and its nearby surroundings, learn how to identify them, and understand their potential and properties through which they co-create the urban space.
When? Friday, May 16, 2025, 17:30 (lasting up to two hours)
Where? Cultural-Creative Centre Hviezda, container.
