Annotation: At first glance, one-person theatre may seem “impoverished”, but that is precisely its essence. Jerzy Grotowski, the great Polish theatre director and reformer, wrote in his “manifesto” Towards a Poor Theatre that an actor must give themselves, their inner self, on stage in order for the audience to believe them. The most personal connection between audience and actor occurs in monodrama. What are the boundaries between actor and audience in one-person theatre, and why in Trenčín in particular?
