Silence That Speaks: European Mime Fest comes to Trenčín region thanks to Milan Sládek
Silence. It’s a sound we hear less and less in our towns and villages these days. But soon, that will change.
The festival, taking place from May 28 to 31, 2025, in Púchov, Považská Bystrica, and Trenčín, will offer the public four days filled with unique movement performances, emotions, and nonverbal communication. The Trenčín Region will host top pantomime artists from around the world.
Pantomime Without Borders
If you think pantomime is boring, come and see for yourself. The festival will feature the best mimes from Europe, capable of turning silence into an unforgettable experience. Alongside stunning acrobatics and facial expressions, audiences can look forward to interactive and emotional stories, told without the need for a single word.
The festival will open in Púchov with the Slovak ritual folk dance “Ovčí zdych” alongside short etudes performed by Slovakia’s leading mimes. The lineup will include groups such as the German Familie Flöz, French ensemble Compagnie Mangano-Massip, Czech artists Radim Vizváry, Peter Biel and HAMU students, as well as Slovak performers Pavol Seriš, Vlado Kulíšek and Living Statues. Street theater will also be represented by Circus Caravana—a collaboration of creators from the V4 countries and Ukraine—and stilt walker Circus Theater Vladimir from the Netherlands.
A truly exceptional moment will be the performance by Sena Didi Mime from Indonesia, a tribute to Milan Sládek’s contribution to pantomime education.
