Film Club for Youth is once again transforming into a special gathering with a guest.
We invite you to the premiere of the documentary De Kracht van Onze Handen (The Strength of Our Hands), which captures the power of artistic community, collaboration, and independent creation in Amsterdam.
The film takes us to Tetterode, a former squatted foundry in the center of Amsterdam that has gradually transformed into one of the largest independent art complexes in the city. It is a unique place where artists not only work and create, but also live together. For more than 40 years, studios, exhibitions, theatre projects, and various forms of artistic collaboration have emerged in this space. Tetterode began as an experiment in self-governance and communal living and remains a rare example of a place where creativity and everyday life naturally intertwine.
The guest of the evening will be Jana Chocholáčková – an artist based in Amsterdam and a graduate of the Secondary School of Art and Design in Trenčín. For more than ten years, she has been creating within the Tetterode community, where she collaborates with other artists to shape an environment built on cooperation, independence, and mutual support.

The documentary De Kracht van Onze Handen offers a closer look at the life of this community and shows how a space can function when artists from different disciplines come together to create new projects. The film has premiered in the Netherlands, Italy, and the Czech Republic – its screening in Trenčín will be its Slovak premiere.
The evening will include:

– a conversation about the life of a Slovak artist abroad
– stories about finding one’s creative identity and building an artistic community
Together, we will explore how artistic communities are formed, what it means to create away from home, and the many possible paths of an artistic career today.
