Renowned Ukrainian clown and world-class actor Anatoli Akerman, who has performed in many significant productions, including the famous Cirque du Soleil and Tim Burton’s Dumbo by Disney Pictures, is coming to Trenčín with his new comedy show KUKU.
This theatrical play focuses on comedic and physical humor, characteristic of his artistic style. The performance also features Austrian mime Christoph Schiele, with whom he forms a wordless comedy duo.

The play KuKu tells the story of two little birds: one trapped inside a cuckoo clock, the other flying freely around the world. The story reflects on routine, courage, freedom, and the cycle of life. The show combines precise physical comedy with visually striking images and gentle melancholy, using playfulness, absurdity, poetry, and humor that resonates with audiences regardless of age or language barriers. KuKu is also a statement about human limitations and the desire to overcome them. The production has been recognized at international festivals and represents the pinnacle of contemporary physical theatre and clowning.

Anatoli Akerman is a clown, physical actor, and passionate artist with an extraordinary sense of humor and humanity. His performances blend comedy, poetry, and energy that can both make audiences laugh and move them deeply across generations.
He has showcased his art on the world’s most prestigious stages. He was part of the creative team of Cirque du Soleil and performed as a clown in the iconic KA show in Las Vegas and the enchanting ZED in Tokyo. Thousands remember him from performances with the legendary Circus Roncalli, and he has also appeared on the big screen – in Tim Burton’s grand Disney production Dumbo.
His career has taken him to global venues such as MGM Grand Las Vegas, Tokyo Disney Resort, Wintergarten Varieté in Berlin, Friedrichsbau Varieté in Stuttgart, and on tour with Cirque Bouffon and Circus Roncalli across Germany and Austria. He also performed in the original dinner show Pomp Duck Circumstance in Berlin and on many other stages, always leaving an unforgettable impression.
After the introduction, you can look forward to an interactive workshop with Anatoly Akerman featuring demonstrations of artistic creation, followed by a short discussion with the public and a book signing by the artist, who is one of the greatest figures of contemporary clowning.
