Summer Cinema is part of the Film Festival of Inclusion, a project that brings topics of inclusion, diversity and mutual understanding closer to audiences through films and discussions. Each evening offers a unique cinematic story, followed by a conversation with guests who provide new perspectives on the world around us.
We are also committed to making the Summer Cinema accessible to as many people as possible. Screenings are accessible for wheelchair users, while selected dates include accessibility measures for people with hearing or visual impairments. Thanks to subtitles, the films are also accessible to international audiences. Each screening offers different accessibility features. When Dreams Know No Limits
This edition of the Summer Cinema presents the Czech-Slovak comedy Dream Team, directed by Jonáš Karásek. With both humour and sensitivity, the film explores themes of sport, disability and parental love.
Marek (Martin Hofmann) is an unsuccessful basketball coach whose son, who has a disability, dreams of competing at the Paralympic Games in Rio. When Marek fails to assemble a team of athletes with disabilities, he resorts to deception. Encouraged by his slightly eccentric neighbour (Jakub Prachař), he recruits able-bodied basketball players to pretend they have disabilities.
Together with his unsuspecting wife (Petra Polnišová), Marek travels to Rio with his “dream team”. Under the hot Brazilian sun, he gradually realises that karma is catching up with him, and that even the greatest sporting achievement may not be enough to escape the consequences of his actions.
Dream Team is more than a comedy full of absurd situations. It is also a story about personal integrity, parental love and how far someone is willing to go to make their child’s dream come true.
Before the screening, there will be a discussion with director Jonáš Karásek, actress Petra Polnišová and Juraj Brocko. The discussion will be moderated by Anton Šulík.
