Runway | English for Culture and Tourism

About

Runway is the collective name for the educational activities within the European Capital of Culture Trenčín 2026 project. Runway | English for Culture and Tourism is a language training program designed to better prepare people in the cultural field for the year 2026 and open new opportunities for them.

Who is the course for?

The program is intended for 50 people working in the fields of culture or tourism who want to improve their professional English across various topics (see below). Participants may be managers as well as artists. The primary focus is on people from Trenčín and the Trenčín Region.

Registration for the new edition opens on 15 August.

What specific English language topics will the course cover?

  • Presenting your organization, project, and yourself

  • Preparing project documentation

  • Improving conversational skills and expanding vocabulary

  • Networking in an international environment

  • Giving presentations and joining videoconferences

  • Case studies from the fields of culture and project management

How will it work in practice?

First, you need to register before the maximum limit of 100 applicants is reached. From these, 50 people will be selected to participate in the language course. The registration form will be open from 15 August 2025. The earlier you register, the higher your chance of being accepted.

Graduates of the previous course can also apply. When selecting participants, attendance in the previous course will be taken into account.

Selected participants will be contacted no later than 9 September 2025. In September, all new participants will take a placement test, after which they will be assigned to groups of up to five people according to their language level.

Training will take place once a week from October 2025 to June 2026 at KC Aktivity, o.z., Kyjevská 3183, 911 08 Trenčín Juh.

The course is free of charge, but participants will need to purchase their own study materials. The language course is organized by Eloqua, s.r.o.
