The Underneath the Arches project by Italian curators Alessandra Troncone and Chiara Pirozzi, which has been taking place in Naples since 2018. In collaboration with Associazione Aqua Augusta, they bring contemporary art into archaeological sites, connecting them with current artistic research.
The concept of linking the legacy of the past with contemporary art will also be part of the Trenčín 2026 programme. The project will take place in the region, in the village of Haluzice, in the late Romanesque Church of All Saints.
In dialogue with the local community, Italian artist Eugenio Tibaldi will create a site-specific installation titled Symposium, offering an opportunity to experience a sense of fraternity between humans and other beings. The work will revive the idea of a utopian gathering of animals within this exceptional sacred space and open up a space for shared experience, empathy, and new interpretations of historical heritage.
