Trenčín 2026 – TrenAir Residency Programme

Information

Trenčín 2026 proudly launches TrenAir, the very first international residency program in Trenčín. With this initiative, we are opening the city to new creative impulses and collaborations, transforming it into a vibrant space of cultural exchange, dialogue, and artistic innovation.

The program supports artistic mobility and offers space for creation, research, and connection with the local environment and community. Each residency is linked to public outcomes – from workshops and lectures to exhibitions or artistic presentations.

We are currently offering 3-4 week residencies for international professional artists working in the fields of visual arts, architecture, urbanism, literature, music, film, theatre, and dance. The residencies will take place in December 2025, January 2026, and February 2026. Four studios will be available for creative work.

Specialized studios and workshops for working with materials such as ceramics, wood, or 3D printing will also be accessible, along with equipment for experimenting with new technologies.

Residency focus

The residencies will be thematically linked to the four program lines of Trenčín 2026:

  • Curiosity as cultural memory, identity, and public space

    • History, identity, memory, and architecture are not just memories of the past — they are a living part of our cities and everyday life. Curiosity leads us to ask how the past shapes the present and how we can transform public space into a place where we meet, create, and live together.
  • Curiosity as ecological responsibility

    • In times of climate crisis, curiosity turns into a desire to understand nature and treat it with respect. We learn to seek new ways of creating, designing, and living together that are considerate to the planet and enrich our lives at the same time.
  • Curiosity as equality, solidarity, and care

    • Curiosity leads us to people — to listening, getting to know, and opening ourselves to others. We seek ways to build new relationships and live together in a society that is diverse, vibrant, and mutually supportive.
  • Curiosity as an impulse for new stories

    • Curiosity drives us to explore the unknown, experiment with forms, and connect genres. It supports art, creativity, and communities that push the boundaries of cultural expression and bring fresh, inspiring stories.

Residency conditions

Each residency provides a stipend of 1,300 EUR (including per diems, material, and travel costs). In cases where costly materials or long-distance travel are required, an individual agreement is possible.

The program is open to artists with permanent residence outside the Slovak Republic

Participants will be accommodated in our Residency House at Žabinského 22, located approximately 20 minutes on foot from the city center.
