The motto of this year’s edition was “A little is enough for great good” – and at Trenčín 2026, we proved it fully during Volunteer Week 2025.
A year after launching the Trenčín 2026 volunteer program, we once again joined the nationwide Volunteer Week campaign – and celebrated it in the best way possible: together.
We gathered, played, read, discussed, created and transformed. Not because we had to, but because we wanted to. Because we care about our city, our region, and the people who live here.
Over the course of seven days, 12 exceptional activities took place, involving 135 people – from experienced volunteers to complete newcomers. We were brought together by different motivations, but what we shared was the desire to be helpful, to be present, and to bring something good.
Together, we contributed 468.5 hours of volunteering – through activities, info sessions, discussions, and training – and every single one of those hours mattered.
We started quietly, yet powerfully – with a shared reading session with seniors in the Sihoť neighborhood. “Let’s read together” wasn’t just about books – it was about attention, about taking time for someone else. About memories someone might have shared for the first time in years.
On Kasárenská Street, we brought joy through play and laughter to children who need it most. At the same time, we reflected with local residents on what this area is missing and how we can make it better – to create a more pleasant and safer place for everyone.
On Thursday, we opened our doors to those who decided to join the Trenčín 2026 volunteer team. The GOODtraining wasn’t just about learning – it was the first step toward becoming part of a community that shapes culture and the future of our city. Alongside that, we continued with a short-term volunteer program at the ForMaat Gallery, which runs through the end of June. The exhibition by Lucia Romualdi became not only an artistic experience, but also a space for cultural volunteering.
Friday was all about preparation – big and small. Volunteers helped build, assemble, rehearse, and organize – because Saturday belonged to Korzo.
And Korzo Soblahovská turned out just as we wished – full of life, color, conversations, games, music, and people. Without our volunteers, it simply wouldn’t have been possible. They helped with program logistics, in the children’s zone, with waste sorting, coordination, and documentation. They were visible and present wherever needed.
In the discussion “I help. I connect. I change.”, we reminded ourselves that volunteering isn’t just about action. It’s about attitude, decisions, responsibility, and courage.
On the final day of Volunteer Week, we returned to the gallery – and ended in quiet among the artworks. Because volunteering is also about being, listening, and stepping back so someone else can shine.
Thank you.
To everyone who showed up, lent a helping hand, gave their time, or simply paid attention to what was happening around them.
The volunteer program of Trenčín 2026 continues – and thanks to you, it’s full of humanity, meaning, and joy.
Volunteer Week 2025 wasn’t just a week.
It was proof that when we come together, we can achieve great things.
