About the residents

Anastasiia Bozhenko

Studied history at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, in 2019 she defended her PhD thesis at the same University. Since 2019 Anastasiia is working as a senior teacher in the Department of Ukrainian Studies. Her research interests relate to heritage studies, memory studies, urban history and postcolonial studies. Since 2025 Anastasiia is a researcher at Leibniz-Institut für Geschichte und Kultur des östlichen Europa (GWZO). As well, she is a member of the NGOs Urban Forms Center and Art-oborona, which are working with the architectural modernist heritage. She participated in projects “Constructivism. Kharkiv”, “Ukrainian modernism”, “Kharkiv architectural manual” and others.

Оlesya Chagovets

Is an architect-restorer and heritage researcher, a member of ICOMOS and the NGO “Art Oborona.” She specializes in finding contemporary solutions for heritage preservation in the context of crisis, war, and climate change. Her projects include research on Kharkiv’s constructivist architecture, virtual representation of interwar modernism, creation of cycling routes through heritage sites, digital solutions for museum architecture, advocacy campaigns for the restoration of damaged buildings, and cultural initiatives that combine art and urbanism. She takes part in international conferences and research programs, collaborating with professionals from Germany, Poland, Sweden, Italy, and other countries.
