About the event
Palackého Live is a small urban festival whose goal is to show that even a place known primarily as a large parking lot can be a pleasant public space. For one summer evening, Palackého Street will turn into a safe and calmer zone full of life, greenery, inspiration, and experiences. The event includes a Music Picnic.
The event will take place on Friday, August 22, 2025 from 16:00 to 22:00.
An important part of the program will be the opening of a new architectural intervention – a parklet, which was created as a harbinger of future permanent changes in this location.
Program
Come enjoy an afternoon full of dance, music, discussions, and open-air cinema – right on the street! Palackého Street will come alive with a vibrant program for all age groups.
🕓 16:00 – Dance Workshop with MS Dance Studio
Location: Palackého Street
Professional instructors from MS Dance Studio will get you moving at a dance workshop in the very heart of the city. Children and adults alike are welcome to join. For a while, the street will belong to music and movement.
🕔 17:00 – Opening of the New Parklet
Location: Lower end of the street, near Deloris
Palackého Street is getting a new spot to relax! Come to the festive opening of the parklet – a public space with benches, greenery, and shade. You’ll learn why it was created here, how long it will stay, and who it’s meant for. Special guests will join the opening ceremony.
🕠 17:30 – reShape the City: Fountains as Part of Urban Life
Location: Parklet near Deloris
A discussion on the role of fountains in cities – as aesthetic elements, landmarks, or places for gathering. Can Trenčín have its own version of the famous “Družba” fountain?

🕡 18:30 – Placecamp Presentation
Location: Main stage, near the parking house
What does the city look like through the eyes of young people? Participants of Placecamp – a summer placemaking school – will present their concept that transforms a single parking space into a meaningful public place. Get inspired by their creative approach to the urban environment.
🕖 19:00 – Concert: The Youniverse
Location: Main stage
Charismatic singer Tammy Nižňanská, guitarist Jerguš Oravec, and drummer Adam Olexík deliver an energetic musical experience. A powerful performance from the Slovak alternative rock scene – The Youniverse will play tracks from their acclaimed album CMYK along with other hits.
🎬 20:00 – Summer Cinema: Short Animated Film Yuck!
Location: Lower end of the street, near Deloris
Yuck! (Francúzsky: Beurk!) je francúzsky animovaný krátky film z roku 2024 o detstve a objavovaní lásky, ktorý napísal a režíroval Loïc Espuche. Získal viaceré medzinárodné ocenenia a bol nominovaný aj na Oscara za najlepší animovaný krátky film.
🎬 20:30 – Summer Cinema: Waves
Location: Lower end of the street, near Deloris
A gripping drama set during the era of Czechoslovak “normalization”, directed by Jiří Mádl. The story of two radio editors, personal courage, and the thin line between truth and propaganda. Based on real events, the film still resonates strongly today.

Palackého Live is open to everyone – families with children, neighbors, and visitors to Trenčín.
If you want to enjoy a Friday evening with music and film, come with children to creative workshops or just sit in the new parklet, you are welcome.

Come see for yourself that even Palackého Street can be a place of meeting, relaxation, and inspiration. Together we can show what Trenčín can look like when we prioritize people over cars.
Transport and restrictions
During the event, the section from the parking garage on Palackého Street (the parking garage will not be restricted) to CoopJednota SUPERMARKET will be closed to traffic.
The section between the parking garage and Hotel Elizabeth will be temporarily two-way. The parking lot in front of the Piarist Gymnasium of Jozef Branecký will not be restricted, including entry and exit.
The cycle path in this section will be impassable. Cyclists can walk their bikes through the event section. Bicycle racks will be available at the event.
The closure of part of Palackého Street will last from midnight on August 22, 2025 at 00:00 to Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 03:00 in the morning.
We recommend coming on foot, by bicycle, or using public transport.
Program of the Palackého naživo event – summer cinema, carried out in cooperation with the Art in Park festival, the Regional Tourism Organization Trenčín and Surroundings, and with the financial support of the Ministry of Sports and Tourism of the Slovak Republic.
The event is supported by the Miloš Alexander Bazovský Gallery and the Michal Rešetka Public Library.
