Slovak Fashion in Motion

Exhibition in Budapest and SFC Collective Show at BCEFW 2025

The first weekend of September will belong to Slovak fashion – in an international context and with an emphasis on the values brought by the LUMó programme within Trenčín – European Capital of Culture 2026.

On Thursday, 4 September 2025, we will open the LUMó Exhibition by Slovak Fashion Council at the Slovak Institute in Budapest, showcasing the work of three Slovak designers: Lenka Krivá, Petra Weingart, and Atelier MUSA. The exhibition is organised in cooperation with the Slovak Institute in Budapest and is part of the prestigious Budapest Central European Fashion Week (BCEFW).

The curated installation, directed by designer Vivien Babicová, will present fashion not only as a final product but also as a process – with an emphasis on local production, sustainability, the textile heritage of the Trenčín region, and diverse approaches to design, including pattern-making techniques, a zero-waste approach, and minimising production waste. The Trenčín region remains an important production base for Slovak fashion even today – many collections are created here in collaboration with local seamstresses and workshops. The featured designers are closely connected to this environment, either by origin or by producing their collections here.

The exhibition will run until 12 September and, from 5–7 September, will be enriched by accompanying activities and informal talks with representatives of SFC and Trenčín 2026 – European Capital of Culture. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn not only about the designers themselves but also about LUMó – the Sustainable Fashion Laboratory, one of the flagship programmes being prepared for Trenčín 2026.

As part of the event, the SFC Collective Show will take place on Friday, 5 September, at 7:00 p.m. on the main BCEFW runway. In this joint show, the three designers will present their work to an international audience, combining personal vision with the values of sustainable creation.

Thanks to partnerships with BCEFW and the Slovak Institute in Budapest, we are able to present Slovak fashion to both the professional and wider public as contemporary and authentic, yet deeply rooted in the cultural and material heritage of the country. The exhibition and fashion show also serve as an invitation to follow the LUMó programme further, which will continue this autumn with pilot events in Trenčín and the surrounding area.

The LUMó project is being developed as part of the Trenčín – European Capital of Culture 2026 programme.
