Wheelchair Walks are an experiential activity that invites participants to experience everyday life from a different perspective. During the walk, you will try common situations such as moving around the city, entering buildings, using public services, and interacting with your surroundings.
The walk lasts approximately 90 minutes and begins at the main stage on Mierové Square, from where we will set off together through the city streets.
This is not about extreme scenarios or simulating life with a disability. Instead, the aim is to gain a better understanding, through personal experience, of the small barriers wheelchair users encounter every day and to reflect on how we can create a more accessible and inclusive environment for everyone.
The walk is led by Janka Bebjaková together with Monika Velacková, who is a wheelchair user herself and offers an authentic perspective on navigating everyday life in the city.
Janka creates experiential formats that help people better understand the everyday experiences of others. You can learn more about her work at vnimave.sk.
Monika focuses on raising awareness about the lives of people with disabilities and has long been working to break down barriers and challenge stereotypes. You can follow her work through projects such as Sme si rovní (We Are Equal) and Učíme sa bez rozdielov (Learning Without Differences).
During the walk, you will:
- experience moving around the city in a wheelchair,
- see everyday situations from a new perspective,
- learn more about barriers we often overlook,
- gain practical insights into how to offer help naturally and respectfully.

The event takes place outdoors in the centre of Trenčín. The route has been designed for the purpose of the walk and includes real-life situations in the urban environment.
