What does an ordinary day in the city look like from the perspective of a wheelchair user?
Wheelchair Walks is an experiential format that allows participants to see everyday life from a different perspective for a while. During the walk, you will experience common situations such as moving around the city, entering buildings, using services, or communicating with people around you.
The walk lasts approximately 90 minutes and starts at the main stage on Mierové námestie, from where we will head out into the city streets together.
This is not about extreme scenarios or simulating life with a disability. The aim is to gain a better understanding, through personal experience, of the everyday obstacles wheelchair users encounter and to reflect on how we can create a more accessible and inclusive environment for everyone.
The walk is led by Janka Bebjaková together with Monika Velacková, who is a wheelchair user herself and brings an authentic perspective on navigating everyday life in the city.
Among other activities, Janka creates experiential formats that help the public better understand the life situations of others. You can learn more about her work at vnimave.sk.
Monika raises awareness about the lives of people with disabilities and has long been working to break down barriers and stereotypes. You can follow her activities through the projects Sme si rovní and Učíme sa bez rozdielov.
During the walk, you will:
- try moving around the city in a wheelchair,
- experience everyday situations from a new perspective,
- learn more about barriers we often do not notice,
- gain practical insight into how we can offer help naturally and respectfully.

The event will take place outdoors in Trenčín city centre. The route will be adapted to the purpose of the walk and will include real-life situations encountered in an urban environment.
