Contemporary Castle brings contemporary art into the historic spaces of Trenčín Castle, creating a dialogue between the past and the present. Within the project, the castle becomes a place where historical architecture meets current artistic approaches, new forms of expression, and diverse cultural perspectives.
The project features contemporary art exhibitions, site-specific installations, and new artworks created specifically for the castle’s spaces. These artistic interventions respond to particular locations, their atmosphere, history, and meaning, offering visitors the opportunity to experience familiar spaces from a new perspective.
An important aspect of the project is its international dimension. Artists from different cultural backgrounds will gradually be presented at Trenčín Castle, bringing their own experiences, themes, and visual languages into dialogue with the site. Artists from Turkey will reinterpret the legend of the Well of Love and present an exhibition curated by Ekmel Ertan. The project will also feature Japanese artist Yasuaki Onishi, known for his delicate, spatially sensitive installations that explore perception of space, emptiness, and light.
