A 15-member delegation from Suyeong, Busan, South Korea, visited Trenčín, led by Mayor Kang Seong-tae. The delegation also included professionals working in the cultural sector, representatives of the regional government and city officials. The aim of their visit was to learn more about how the Trenčín 2026 project works in practice, gain inspiration, and expand their professional knowledge and networks.
The distinguished guests were welcomed by Trenčín 2026 CEO Stanislav Krajči and Deputy Mayor of Trenčín Patrik Žák. The Trenčín 2026 project was presented by Martin Mojžiš, Head of the European Dimension of the project. The Považie Region, which hosted the meeting, was introduced by Barbora Babiaková, Director of the Považie Regional Tourism Organisation. The meeting provided an opportunity for an open exchange of information, mutual inspiration and sharing of experience, while also creating new connections for future cooperation.
Suyeong, with a population of approximately 180,000, is located in the heart of Busan. It is part of South Korea’s national Cultural City programme, which supports the development of cities based on their cultural resources, and is one of the programme’s most successful centres. Its motto, “From the Alley to the Sea,” reflects its ambition to connect the coastline with the streets of individual neighbourhoods through festivals and events. Trenčín is taking a similar approach, seeking to better connect Trenčín Castle with the rest of the city, particularly with the Váh River and its riverbanks.
We believe that the experiences shared and the new connections established will inspire both cities in developing future cultural projects.
