Trenčín 2026 continues to support cultural life in the city and the region. The grant calls Europe for the City and Europe for the Region are open again – aiming to support art, community and new ideas. A total of €250,000 is available.

Culture matters. And that’s why it deserves support.

As of 1 December 2025, the grant calls Europe for the City and Europe for the Region are once again open, with one goal – to bring more art, creativity and experiences to Trenčín and its surroundings. Thanks to the European Capital of Culture Trenčín 2026 project, €250,000 is prepared to support cultural and creative projects.

These calls build on the successful first edition from 2025, when as many as 52 projects received support. From intimate community events, through artistic interventions, to renowned festivals – the grant programmes proved that the region has enormous creative potential. And above all – the desire to make the region a better place.

“Our goal is to bring important and long-term changes for our city and region, including by investing directly in supporting cultural projects of local organisers,” says Stanislav Krajči, director of the Creative Institute Trenčín. “Our calls also help enhance the professional skills of people who create culture. We believe this will have a positive impact in the future.”

Who can apply?

The calls Europe for the City and Europe for the Region are intended for everyone working in the cultural and creative industries – organisers, artists, initiatives and communities. If you have an idea that can enliven the city or the region, now is the time to make it real.

Applications are open until 12 January 2026, submitted electronically through the platform egrant.sk. Detailed conditions, evaluation criteria and the list of required documents are published on trencin2026.eu.

The expected date of announcing the results is 27 February 2026.

Why are we doing this?

The year 2026 is the title year of the European Capital of Culture project – an opportunity that comes only once in a lifetime. The grant programmes are a way to involve as many people as possible in cultural life, support original ideas and leave a long-term mark on the city and the region.

Culture is not created only from the top. It emerges where there is the desire to create, connect and enliven. In community centres, on housing estates, in villages and in theatres. And it is precisely there that the support offered by these calls is directed.
