Do you enjoy reminiscing and would like to share your life stories in an engaging way with those around you? Do you have a teenager at home and are looking for a meaningful summer program for them? Or are you simply drawn to the world of art? The Summer School of Four Arts, taking place from August 1 to 9, 2025, in Trenčín, is just for you.

The Summer School of Four Arts welcomes everyone aged 15 to 99, regardless of previous experience. You can choose from one of four unique artistic workshops.

Storytelling, performance, and cooking

For anyone who wants to share their experiences and turn them into powerful stories, there’s the Storytelling Workshop.
“In this workshop, we will learn what every skilled storyteller needs to know – how to structure a story, how to strengthen it, how to control your gestures and voice, and how not to lose spontaneity,” explains workshop lecturer Martina Jánošíková, who studied storytelling at Emerson College in Sussex (UK) under world-renowned experts.
“Through storytelling, we want to create a community of people who will bring to life not only their own stories but also the stories of their city,” she adds.

Did you know art can be cooked? “In the Performance + Cooking Workshop, we will create edible works of art together, explore stories connected to food, and even experiment with solar-powered cooking,” explains another lecturer, Rokko Juhász, legendary Slovak performer, poet, and founder of the renowned Transart Communication Festival.

Your story in film – or in photographs

The Photography Workshop will be led by artist Gabriela Zigová, a Trenčín native now based in London.
“We’ll work in the late afternoons and evenings, and spend some special summer nights under the open sky. Moonlight, magnesium sparklers, and the landscape itself will become our tools for creating photography, land art, and photograms – special shadow images,” says Zigová about the workshop program.

Or would you like to see your name in the credits of a film at the end of summer?
With experts from the film studio MPhilms, participants will experience the entire process of creating a documentary film – from the initial idea to the final edit.

The Summer School of Four Arts is part of the Generations Together project, which connects different generations through art, community, and personal stories. The project is part of the Trenčín 2026 – European Capital of Culture program, which means that participation in the Summer School is free of charge.
However, workshop capacity is limited, so we recommend signing up as soon as possible, and no later than July 20, 2025, via a simple online form at: generaciespolu.sk or in person at the KIC.

Come experience a creative summer in the heart of Trenčín – discover the magic of art that is for everyone.
