Do you work in culture professionally or in your free time? Are you interested in how the preparation for the European Capital of Culture Trenčín 2026 project looks two years before its culmination? What opportunities and possibilities does the project offer the cultural community during this period?
At the next meeting of the cultural community of the Trenčín region, you will get an overview of ongoing and planned activities for Trenčín 2026. The new director of the European Capital of Culture Trenčín 2026 project will speak to the participants. Experienced cultural manager Ján Sudzina has led an international music label, a music festival, and managed Slovakia’s first European Capital of Culture project, Košice 2013. He will talk about his experience from Košice and inspirations for Trenčín.
As part of the European Capital of Culture Košice 2013, the exchange stations project was created, which still operates today. Unused heat exchange stations in housing estates were reconstructed and transformed into cultural centers. They now house not only cultural events but also sports and science activities, catering to all age groups. Košice residents can carry out their events and ideas here with the support of the exchange stations‘ staff. Matúš Binc, their project manager, will talk about the exchange stations at the meeting.
The meetings of the cultural community of the Trenčín region serve to connect the cultural community from across the region. They are a space for discussions about improving conditions for culture and the creative industry in the region, as well as about the opportunities and challenges brought by the European Capital of Culture Trenčín 2026 project.
The next meeting will take place on Thursday, June 27, from 17:30 to 19:30 in the Refectory of the Piarist Gymnasium Jozef Branecký in Trenčín. There will also be space for discussion.
