UAFA Cup Returns to Trenčín. The 12th Edition of the Charity Football Tournament Brings Sport, Concerts, Community Activities and Support for Those Who Need It

When a football pitch becomes a place of encounters, solidarity and new friendships, it creates something more than just a sporting event. On Saturday, 20 June, Trenčín will host the 12th edition of the UAFA Cup charity tournament, which every year brings together people across countries, communities and life experiences.

The grounds of the THIS IS MY SEN Football Academy on Trenčín’s Ostrov will once again transform into a vibrant hub of sport, culture and mutual support.

Football That Brings More Than Results Together

For twelve years, the UAFA Cup has demonstrated that sport can build bridges where barriers might otherwise exist. People of different backgrounds, nationalities, faiths and life stories meet on the pitch. What unites them is not only a love of football, but also respect, fairness and openness.

“UAFA Cup is proof that sport can bring people together regardless of their origin, nationality, faith or life story. For twelve years, it has created a space where fairness, solidarity and respect are just as important as the game itself,” says Peter Rozsíval, Chairman of UAFA Cup o.z.

Throughout the day, both men’s and women’s teams will compete for victory on four mini-football pitches. As is tradition, the closing ceremony will include the presentation of the FAIR PLAY Award, one of the tournament’s most significant symbols. It serves as a reminder that true victories are not measured only by goals scored, but also by the way we treat one another.

Support with a Real Impact

UAFA Cup is not only a celebration of sport. Its charitable dimension is an integral part of the event, transforming the energy of the tournament into tangible support every year.

Financial contributions raised during the tournament are directed towards people and organisations with a social impact. Beneficiaries include people with disabilities, women experiencing violence, and communities affected by armed conflicts.

This is what makes the event unique. Visitors do not come only to cheer for their favourite teams. They become part of a community capable of making a positive difference.

A Place Where Europe Comes Together

The tournament will begin at 9:00 a.m. and offer a programme for all generations throughout the day. In addition to football matches, visitors can enjoy a children’s zone, a chill-out area, concerts, DJs, quality food and plenty of opportunities for informal gatherings.

For one day, Ostrov will become a place where stories from different parts of Slovakia and Europe come together. A place where sport connects with culture and where new relationships are formed.

“UAFA Cup is not just about football. It is about people who believe that openness, cooperation and mutual respect have an important place in society. That is why the event has built a strong community both at home and abroad over the years,” adds Branislav Hollý, Project Manager of Trenčín 2026.

UAFA Cup is part of the Fair Play project, included in the programme of the European Capital of Culture Trenčín 2026. Through sport, culture and community activities, it promotes the values of equality, respect and solidarity.

During the same weekend, the European Capital of Culture Trenčín 2026 will also present other community events, including the popular Splanekor 2.0, which will transform the River Váh into a space for creativity, sport and shared experiences.

If you believe that sport can be a language of understanding and that even small gestures can bring about meaningful change, come and be part of a day that connects people without borders.
