How can art influence our relationship with the city we live in and with the nature that surrounds us? In Trenčín, the Green Line project is launching — bringing environmental themes directly into public space. Join us for the opening discussion of this project!
The discussion will feature:
-
Oto Hudec – artist and educator, curator of the Green Line project
-
Rigo 23 (Ricardo Gouveia) – artist and activist who will be creating a mural on the wall of the homeless shelter in Trenčín
-
Martin Mojžiš – translation, European Dimension, Trenčín 2026
Parts of the discussion in English will be translated into Slovak.
Oto Hudec will present the Green Line project – its character and significance for Trenčín. The Green Line represents an imaginary line through the city, connecting points – artworks in public spaces that respond to current environmental topics in dialogue with their surroundings. Slovak and international artists will create both permanent and temporary works placed along parks, riverbanks, and building walls. These artworks connect personal stories, local flora and fauna, and activism.
Oto will also present some of his latest projects that engage with public space and environmental art, as well as the collective project Volba2050.world – an exhibition and online platform that envisions two possible futures for our planet, based on humanity’s differing attitudes toward climate change.
Rigo 23 will talk about his practice and the way he works in the locations where his artworks are created – how he finds connections, collaborates with communities, and responds to context. At the beginning of the discussion, he will present visual documentation of selected previous public art projects, as well as some works currently in development.
His work, spanning four decades – from the mid-1980s to the present – can be found in schools, community centers, universities, airports, gardens, metro stations, fire stations, streets, alleys, art centers, and museums. In addition, he also creates studio works and drawings on paper.
Alongside the visual documentation, Rigo will share some of the narrative threads – the stories and histories – embedded in his practice. He focuses on long-term collaborations with individuals and communities; his work often draws from marginal experiences and always responds sensitively to environmental, cultural, and architectural contexts.
