What can a hideaway be? A cocoon, a nest, a climbing frame, a bunker, a niche, or a place to briefly escape from everyday life.
The exhibition presents proposals for student interventions in school environments, created in collaboration between the Body and Space Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava (VŠVU), Fabrika umenia, and three schools in the Trenčín Region.
The individual projects explore a wide range of possibilities, from small gestures to more complex spatial solutions inspired by the cocoon – both as a protective shell and as a place of dynamic transformation. Variations become a means of exploring the relationship between a solid structure and a soft shell, intimacy and openness, stability and instability. The series of proposals presents architecture as a process of searching for and testing possibilities and qualities.
