Relaxation areas

About

The Relaxation Areas project focuses on supporting mental health, inclusion, and interpersonal relationships among children and young people. Its aim is to create safe and functional interventions in schools across the Trenčín Region – in Trenčín, Dubnica nad Váhom, and Partizánske.

The areas will be designed by architecture students from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, under the guidance of architects Danica Pišteková and Tomáš Tholt, in collaboration with experts in psychology, education, and playful spaces for children.

The project connects art, architecture, and education, responding to current topics in mental health as well as new materiality. It explores possibilities of layering, variable forms, movement, tactile experience, and the relationship between solid structures and soft coverings within the typology of small-scale architecture.
