Považská Bystrica has a new mural. Join us for its opening and discover the story behind its creation.
The mural We Can Be Fragile and Strong at the Same Time was created as part of the Destination All Inclusive (DAI) project and follows the theme Stories Hidden in the Memory of the City.
The theme draws on the history of Považská Bystrica and the people connected to the city whose stories may no longer be immediately visible in its public spaces. One of them is the surrealist painter Imro Weiner-Kráľ, whose work became the main inspiration for the mural’s creators, HERA x RASCALS. The theme of the city’s memory also encompasses other notable figures connected to Považská Bystrica.
Rather than copying Weiner’s works, the artists interpret his visual world through their own contemporary language. The mural features, for example, a mask inspired by one of his paintings and the figure of a boy based on another motif from his work. These references come together in a new image that connects the city’s past with the present.
The result is a work built on contrasts. Fragility and strength, cool and warm tones, and different motifs stand side by side, expressing the mural’s central idea: we can be fragile and strong at the same time.
Come and see the new artwork at the place where it was created and spend the afternoon with us at its official opening.

About the Destination All Inclusive (DAI) project
Destination All Inclusive brings contemporary art into public spaces and connects it with the stories, history and identity of specific places across the Trenčín Region. Each artwork is created specifically for a selected location and responds to themes associated with it. The project connects artists with local stories and communities, bringing new works of art directly into public spaces.
Accessibility
The event will take place outdoors, directly by the mural. The area is wheelchair accessible.
