Thirty years of Slovak contemporary dance come to life in a hotel currently undergoing renovation. More than twenty landmark dance works from the past three decades are spread across the rooms, corridors and halls of the functionalist Hotel Savoy in Trenčianske Teplice.
The audience does not sit in an auditorium. After a shared introduction, the hotel is transformed into a living gallery, where everyone chooses their own route and moves at their own pace. At some stops, the dancers perform continuously. The evening concludes with a shared finale.
You will never see any of it the same way twice, and no two people will see exactly the same thing.
What remains of a dance performance once it is over? Can choreography be preserved in the same way as a painting or architecture? And how can cultural memory be passed from one generation to another through movement?
RE:construction by choreographer and director Petra Fornayová explores themes of memory, heritage and the recycling of artistic works. It is based on a subjective curatorial selection of approximately twenty contemporary dance performances created in Slovakia over the past thirty years. Their fragments, movement principles and distinctive artistic approaches come to life in new interpretations by dancers, including members of the youngest generation, who actively participate in the creative process together with the choreographer.
The performance is not a reconstruction of the original works, but their creative reinterpretation. The result is a living gallery of contemporary dance that connects history with the present and raises questions about how we preserve artistic heritage and give it new meaning.
The project gains another layer of meaning through its setting. Hotel Savoy, part of the functionalist spa complex comprising the Slávia, Savoy and Diana hotels, is undergoing renovation at the time of the performance. The space itself thus becomes a natural part of the production and a metaphor for renewal, transformation and continuity.
The performance is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Contemporary Dance Association, founded in 1996 by artists, students and educators working in contemporary dance as the first independent umbrella organisation of its kind.

Where to Find Everything
The individual works are located on the ground and first floors of the hotel. A complete floor plan showing which work can be found in each room is included in the leaflet, which will also be available at the venue.
Good to Know Before You Arrive
- The programme takes place across two floors, and you will spend most of the time walking and standing. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes.
- Due to ongoing renovation work, the venue is not wheelchair accessible.
- The video art and projections do not contain strobe lighting or flashing effects.
- The event is suitable for visitors aged 10 and over.

Landmark: The hotel complex is located directly behind Hotel PAX in the centre of the spa town. The entrance to the event venue will be marked with event signage.
By Car
From Trenčín, take road I/61 towards Trenčianska Teplá, then turn onto road II/516 towards Trenčianske Teplice. The journey takes approximately 15 minutes. We recommend using the paid car park on M. R. Štefánika Street. From there, walk through the pedestrian zone and spa centre towards Hotel PAX, with Hotel Savoy located just behind it. The walk takes approximately 7 minutes.
By Train
Get off at Trenčianska Teplá railway station on the main Bratislava – Žilina – Košice railway line. From there, take a regional bus to Trenčianske Teplice. The bus stop is directly in front of the station building, and the journey takes approximately 10 minutes. Alternatively, you can take a taxi from the taxi rank in front of the station; the journey takes approximately 5–7 minutes.
By Bus from Trenčín
Direct SAD Trenčín buses run from Trenčín bus station to Trenčianske Teplice. The journey takes approximately 20–25 minutes. Get off at Trenčianske Teplice, Slovenská pošta; from there, Hotel Savoy is approximately a 4-minute walk away.
Alternatively, get off at Centrum / Autobusová stanica and walk along the spa promenade past Hotel PAX. The walk takes approximately 5–6 minutes.
