Audiovisual Installation ARBOR, Vincent Rang (NL)

ARBOR Installation

Arbor is a generative audiovisual work by Dutch artist Vincent Rang that explores processes of growth, rootedness, and transformation through constantly evolving digital structures reminiscent of trees and root systems. Created in real time using custom software, the work invites viewers to experience time at a slower pace through cyclical processes of emergence, growth, and decay. The sound for the installation will be created from sounds collected in and around Trenčianske Teplice by Shoal, a sound artist based in Prague.

The installation is sensitively connected to the setting of Trenčianske Teplice, which provides a powerful context for the work. With its continually evolving history – from an aristocratic spa town to a place accessible to the wider public – the town reflects the changing nature of living conditions. These transformations resonate with the logic of Arbor, where growth is continuous, adaptive, and shaped by the environment in which it takes place.

The digital imagery is accompanied by an immersive sound composition created from field recordings of the surrounding area, resulting in a constantly changing sensory experience.

Arbor thus becomes a meditation on transformation, rootedness, and our relationship to place – offering a space to pause, ground ourselves, and become aware of our own presence within an ever-changing reality.
