Are you ready to break down your prejudices about people in need and homelessness? Walks Without a Home offer an experience that can give you a new perspective on your surroundings and on the stories of people living on the margins of society.
Following the success of the pilot walk, we are bringing you another date. During the walk, Mário Barinec, head of the Low-Threshold Centre in Trenčín, together with guide Jana Bebjaková, will take you through places and situations experienced by people in need.
You will have the chance to experience firsthand what it feels like to end up in a crisis situation. Would you know what to do or who to ask for help? Would you be able to find money or emergency accommodation? You may never find yourself in such a situation, but someone around you is very likely struggling with similar questions.
The walk lasts approximately one and a half hours. It starts at 4:00 PM at the Trenčín Railway Station (in front of the main entrance hall) and ends at the Low-Threshold Centre on M. Nešpora Street.
A new feature for this edition is a simple orientation map of the route, which you can find below. It will help you better prepare for the walk – for example, if you are arriving with a stroller, use a wheelchair, or would like to preview the stops in advance.
During the walk, we will stop at four locations that open up different topics connected to the lives of people experiencing homelessness:
- Loss of stability – Railway Station (barrier-free)
- Survival – Bridge to Ostrov (barrier-free)
- How can I help? – Under the road bridge (barrier-free)
- The way back – Low-Threshold Centre and shelter (barrier-free access via stair platform lift, with the possibility to leave a stroller or bicycle)
Registration
We organise the walks in smaller groups of around 10 people, so advance registration via the form is required:
