Are you ready to challenge your prejudices about people in need and homelessness? Walks Without a Home offer an experience that can give you a new perspective on your surroundings and on the stories of people living on the margins of society.
Following several successful walks, we are bringing you another date. Mário Barinec, Head of the Low-Threshold Centre in Trenčín, and guide Jana Bebjaková will take you through places and situations experienced by people in need.
You will get a chance to experience what it is like to find yourself in a crisis situation. Would you know what to do and whom to ask for help? Would you be able to find money or emergency accommodation? You may never find yourself in such a situation, but someone around you is very likely dealing with similar questions.
The walk lasts approximately an hour and a half. It starts at 16:00 at Rotunda Restaurant (in front of the entrance) and ends at the Low-Threshold Centre on M. Nešpora Street.
You can find a simple route map below in the description. It will help you prepare for the walk – for example, if you are coming with a stroller, use a wheelchair, or simply want to check the individual stops in advance.
During the walk, we will stop at four places addressing different topics related to the lives of people experiencing homelessness:
-
Loss of security – Railway Station (wheelchair accessible)
-
Survival – Bridge to Ostrov (wheelchair accessible)
-
How can I help? – Under the road bridge (wheelchair accessible)
-
The way back – Low-Threshold Centre and shelter (wheelchair access via a stairlift; stroller or bicycle storage available)
Registration
The walks take place in small groups of approximately 10 people, so advance registration via the form is required:
If there is high demand, we will add additional dates.
The event is suitable for ages 16 and over.
If you have any questions about the route or accessibility of the walk, please contact us at bebjakova.jana@gmail.com or emma.steiningerova@trencin2026.eu.
