Results of the Population Survey – City of Trenčín

In November 2024, DATA26 (the department responsible for monitoring and evaluation of the Trenčín 2026 project), in cooperation with the Institute of Participation, conducted an extensive population survey in the city of Trenčín. The aim was to understand how we, the residents of Trenčín, engage with culture – how often, where, and why – how we perceive our city, what our quality of life is like, how much we trust each other and local institutions, and what we think about the Trenčín 2026 project. To answer these questions, we needed to collect 600 responses from Trenčín residents, reflecting pre-defined quotas in terms of age, gender, education level, and city district.

Thanks to you, we made it! And in a relatively short time, we collected 603 valid responses.

Data collection took place across all city districts of Trenčín and was conducted by the research agency FOCUS.

The survey results were presented to the public at the “Survey & Concert” event held to celebrate Europe Day. For those who couldn’t attend, we’re now publishing the full presentation here: [insert link]

What did we learn?

• Over 90% of us are proud to live in Trenčín.

• Trust in local institutions is high.

• Most of us spend our time on leisure activities. When we do attend cultural events, it’s usually to meet people (family, friends) or simply for fun.

• 39% of respondents are willing to engage in volunteer activities for the city.

• We perceive Trenčín as a historic, creative, and friendly city.

• 78% believe it is important for Trenčín to hold the title of European Capital of Culture.

• Trenčín residents already report a higher-than-average quality of life compared to the national average.

• 44% of respondents completely agreed that they are excited about the Trenčín 2026 project.
