The BAŤA story comes to life

The city of Zlín in the Czech Republic, located 70 km northwest of Trenčín, has its twin in Partizánske. These towns came into being thanks to the skill and ingenuity of the Czechoslovak entrepreneur Tomáš Baťa – owner of the world-famous shoe-making empire. Both cities have a unique urban design that reflects the social system of care for the employees of Tomáš Baťa’s factories.

In 2026, Tomáš Baťa would have celebrated his 250th birthday, which is yet another reason to visit both towns. If you go, we recommend starting your walk in Zlín at the Tomáš Baťa Memorial and in Partizánske at the BaťaPoint information center.
