After its successful premiere in Budapest, the sustainable fashion exhibition The Trace & Trash of Fashion will be presented in an extended form also in Slovakia – in the industrial spaces of ŽiTo at SÝPKA, Moravské Lieskové.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on October 10, 2025, at 6:00 PM with a festive vernissage, offering a unique evening that combines fashion, visual art, music, and gastronomy.

What the exhibition is about

Every garment carries a trace. Every garment leaves behind waste. The exhibition contrasts two worlds – the mass production of fast fashion and the slow, local creative processes of Slovak designers Lenka Krivá, Petra Weingart, and the MUSA studio.

In the context of sustainability, craftsmanship, and the memory of the Trenčín region, their collections reveal the traces and waste that our clothes leave behind, and what it means to create responsibly – with an emphasis on aesthetics, tradition, and long-term value.

Vernissage as an experience

The opening evening will bring more than just the start of the exhibition. Guests will experience a series of fashion performances in collaboration with dancers and musicians, complemented by a DJ set. The atmosphere will be enriched with a culinary experience – chef Pavol Žiška will prepare a special tasting menu from local ingredients, created exclusively for this occasion.

The tasting will be available free of charge for guests. A full evening menu will be available on site and charged individually.

Program during the exhibition

The exhibition will run from October 11 to December 19, 2025.

Visitors can also look forward to an accompanying program – workshops, discussions, and meetings with designers that will open a dialogue about the creative process and the role of fashion in our everyday lives.

Project context

The Trace & Trash of Fashion exhibition is part of the LUMó – Laboratory of Sustainable Fashion project, one of the key programs of Trenčín 2026 – European Capital of Culture. Its move from Budapest back to Slovakia underlines the importance of connecting the global and the local, bringing pressing sustainability topics directly to the regions.

The LUMó project is part of the Trenčín 2026 European Capital of Culture program. It is organized by Trenčín 2026, financially supported by the City of Trenčín, the Trenčín Self-Governing Region, and the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic. The project’s partner is the European Union.
