The ‘Trenčín-All-Theatre’ project has brought three unique dance-theatre productions to Trenčín, the European Capital of Culture 2026. Following the June premiere of *I Will Remember You* and the September *RE:construction*, the trio will be rounded off on 1 October by the immersive performance *When the Fairy Sings*, directed by Italian choreographer Simone Sandroni, which will take place in Trenčín. Admission to all performances is free, subject to prior registration.

As part of the ‘Trenčín-All-Theatre’ project, a whole series of theatre and dance performances by both local and international artists took place throughout 2026. Three of these, all dance-theatre productions, were, however, created as new works specifically for the European Capital of Culture. They are united by their exploration of movement, the body and contemporary dance, yet each explores a different theme; together, they bring world-class contemporary movement theatre back to Trenčín.

The series opened on 30 June with the production *I Will Remember You*, directed by Jozef Fruček from the RootlessRoot Company – a physical and poetic performance about death, detachment and memory. In mid-September, on 18 and 19 September, this will be followed by *RE:konštrukcia* by choreographer Petra Fornayová, a full-length contemporary dance performance at the functionalist complex comprising the Slávia, Savoy and Diana hotels in Trenčianske Teplice.

Entitled *As the Fairy Sings*, audiences can look forward to an immersive performance by the Italian choreographer and director Simone Sandroni, co-founder of the legendary group Ultima Vez and founder of the Déjà Donné company, whose works have been staged in more than thirty countries around the world. The work is inspired by Slovak folk tales – about the illusion of guidance, addiction and a being who refuses to be a saviour for others.

“With these three productions, we wanted to bring contemporary dance theatre back to Trenčín and show that it has an audience here. *When the Fairy Sings* is the highlight of the entire season, and we believe it will fill the Okruhový dom armády to capacity. It is an invitation to everyone who wants to experience world-class movement theatre right here in our city,” says Martin Mazán, project manager of *Trenčín-All-Theatre*.

The premiere of *When the Fairy Sings* will take place on 1 October at the Okruhový dom armády in Trenčín at two different times: at 5.00 pm with a discussion and at 8.00 pm without a discussion. The performance is translated into Slovak and is suitable for audiences aged 12 and over. Admission is free, but capacity is limited, so we recommend registering in advance at www.trencin2026.eu.

‘Trenčín-All-Theatre’ brings contemporary theatre and movement performances by Slovak and international artists to Trenčín, revitalising the city’s cultural life. As well as offering artistic experiences, the project also fosters dialogue between artists, residents and the professional community through discussions and accompanying activities, thereby strengthening Trenčín’s cultural identity.

The project is organised by Trenčín 2026. It has received financial support from the City of Trenčín, the Trenčín Self-Governing Region and the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic. The European Union is a partner in the project.
