Hito Steyerl: Lecture performance
(in English with Slovak translation)
Hito Steyerl (born in Munich) is a German artist, filmmaker and theorist whose work explores the relationships between image, power and contemporary technologies. Trained in documentary filmmaking and philosophy, since the 2000s she has developed a practice that blends visual essay, video installation and critical speculation. Her work explores the circulation of images in the digital age, automation, the militarization of technology and the invisible infrastructures that shape perception. Presented internationally – notably at the Venice Biennale (2019), the Centre Pompidou, Paris (2020), the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul (2022), MAK Contemporary, Vienna (2025) and currently at the Prada Foundation, Milan – Steyerl is now regarded as one of the leading voices in contemporary art engaged in the analysis of techno-political systems.
