Memorial to the Martyred in Brezina Forest Park, Trenčín
Performative action
On 18 June at 7:00 p.m., we will present Alexandra Pirici’s performative action Invisible Monument at the site of the Memorial to the Martyred in Brezina Forest Park in Trenčín. Fourteen performers will use movement and singing to activate invisible connections between bodies, the landscape, tree roots, and this memorial site of anti-fascist resistance. The work also includes a sculpture—an acoustic instrument inspired by the eidophone, which transforms vocal vibrations into visual patterns. The interactive object will be accessible to visitors in the memorial grounds until November 2026.
Alexandra Pirici is an internationally established Romanian artist working with choreography, performance, and the body as a living medium. In her works, she often responds to public space, monuments, history, political memory, and relationships between human and non-human forms of life. Her works have been presented at major institutions and events such as the Venice Biennale, Tate Modern in London, SFMOMA in San Francisco, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. In 2024, she presented her solo exhibition Attune at Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart in Berlin.
