Theatre Performance: Divadlo Dogma – Monodráma

Concept & Direction: Eduard Kudláč

Text & Performance: Kamil Bystrický

While returning from a guest performance in North Macedonia, members of Dogma Theatre were subjected to a customs inspection upon entering Serbia. During the search, customs officers discovered a starter gas pistol among the props used in the production Višegrád -1.

According to an expert assessment by the National Centre for Forensic Sciences, the pistol was identified as a convertible weapon which, under Serbian law, may only be possessed and carried with a permit issued by a state authority. The Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Vranje charged vehicle owner Kamil Bystrický with the criminal offence of illegal manufacture, possession, carrying, and trafficking of weapons and explosives, and requested a one-year prison sentence along with reimbursement of legal costs.

How do we perceive time and space when an external force isolates us from everything we once took for granted? What shapes our identity? What relationship emerges between reality and illusion? What is freedom, really? Is it somehow connected to time?

Kamil Bystrický’s monodrama is a record of the fragmentation of what was once a coherent perception of presence and existence.

The performance will take place symbolically one day before the opening of the 32nd edition of the international solo theatre festival Alone on Stage (Sám na javisku).
