Myjava has a new mural. Join us for its official unveiling and discover the story behind its creation.
The mural Threads of Belonging (Vlákna spolupatričnosti) was created as part of the Destination All Inclusive (DAI) project and builds on the theme of Community of the Kopanice Region.
This theme draws on the history of the dispersed settlements known as kopanice, which shaped life in the Myjava region. These scattered rural settlements created an environment in which mutual assistance, cooperation between neighbours and solidarity were particularly important. It was precisely people’s ability to remain connected despite physical distance that became the main inspiration for Hungarian artist Fat Heat (Ádám Kirsch), the creator of the mural.
In his design, the artist draws on motifs from traditional Myjava lace, transforming its delicate patterns into human portraits. The interwoven threads symbolise the invisible bonds that connect people and entire communities. Hands are another prominent element, representing mutual support, care and closeness.
The result is a work of art that brings together traditional craftsmanship and contemporary street art, reminding us that a sense of belonging is created not only through physical proximity, but also through the relationships, mutual support and solidarity that connect us.
Come and see the new artwork at the very place where it was created and spend an afternoon with us celebrating its official unveiling.

About the Destination All Inclusive Project
Destination All Inclusive brings contemporary art into public spaces, connecting it with the stories, history and identity of specific places in the Trenčín Region. Each artwork is created specifically for a selected location and responds to themes associated with that place. The project connects artists with local themes and communities, bringing new works of art directly into public spaces.
Accessibility
The event will take place outdoors, directly beside the mural.
