What does an ordinary day in the city look like from the perspective of a wheelchair user?
Wheelchair Walks are an experiential activity that gives participants the opportunity to see everyday life from a different perspective for a while. During the walk, you will experience common situations such as moving around the city, entering buildings, using services, and interacting with your surroundings.
The walk lasts approximately 90 minutes and begins at the main stage on Mierové Square, from where we will set off together into the city streets.
This is not about extreme scenarios or simulating life with a disability. The aim is to gain a better understanding, through personal experience, of the small obstacles wheelchair users encounter every day and to reflect on how we can create a more accessible and inclusive environment for everyone.
The walk is led by Janka Bebjaková together with Monika Velacková, who is a wheelchair user herself and brings an authentic perspective on everyday life in the city.
Janka is dedicated, among other things, to creating experiential formats that help the public better understand the life situations of others. You can learn more about her activities at vnimave.sk.
Monika focuses on raising awareness about the lives of people with disabilities and has long been working to break down barriers and stereotypes. You can follow her work through projects such as Sme si rovní (“We Are Equal”) and Učíme sa bez rozdielov (“Learning Without Differences”).
During the walk, you will:
- experience moving around the city in a wheelchair,
- encounter everyday situations from a new perspective,
- learn more about barriers that often go unnoticed,
- gain practical insight into how we can offer support naturally and respectfully.

The event will take place outdoors in the city centre of Trenčín. The route will be designed to support the purpose of the walk and will include real-life situations from the urban environment.
