The Contemporary Castle project presents contemporary art by three artists from different parts of the world—Turkey, Japan, and Portugal—situated within the historic setting of Trenčín Castle.
Ekmel Ertan (TR): Love Well
A curatorial selection of works by artists from Turkey, divided into two parts:
Gothic Chapel:
Palimpsest and The Whispers of the Well – Ahmet Rüstem Ekici & Hakan Sorar
Beneath – Kerem Ozan Bayraktar
Basement of the Cannon Bastion:
Echoes of Love – Ekmel Ertan
Unspoken – Busra Tunc
Yasuaki Onishi (JP)
The Japanese artist works with space and illusion, using transparent materials and gravity. His installations often balance between immateriality and physicality—site-specific interventions that create a unique visual experience within a historical environment.
Carla Rebelo (PT)
The Portuguese visual artist focuses on themes of layered memory and traces of history. In her installations, she combines textiles, photography, and materials shaped by lived spatial experience.
The exhibition project creates a dialogue between contemporary artistic thinking and the cultural memory of Trenčín Castle.
