“Small” Permanent Exhibition of Miloš Alexander Bazovský

The “Small” Permanent Exhibition of Miloš Alexander Bazovský offers an intimate view of the work of one of the most significant figures of Slovak modernism. Bazovský, known for his unmistakable painterly gesture and deep interest in the Slovak countryside, created a body of work that has become an iconic part of 20th-century cultural identity. The exhibition highlights Bazovský’s contribution to shaping a modern visual language in Slovakia. His works show how he was able to connect tradition with modernist tendencies, working with expressive shorthand, rhythm and colour to create a distinctive, instantly recognisable style in which expressive colouring, abstracted form and strong emotional expression interweave. The landscape he painted with singular lyricism is simultaneously a real space and the artist’s inner world, reflecting his sensitivity, temperament and ability to capture the essence of a moment. The exhibition also recalls his important role in the history of Slovak culture – as a creator who was able to elevate the everyday into an artistic symbol and infuse it with the power of poetic expression.
