What memories does a stone hold? And what mark can we leave on it?
We invite you to the official unveiling of a new artwork, Sown in Sediments (Zasiate v sedimentoch), by Slovak artist Jaroslav Kyša, created in collaboration with Adam Králik. The artwork is part of the LANDMARKS / STOPS IN THE LANDSCAPE series, which brings contemporary art into the natural environment of the Považie region.
📅 21 November 2026 at 1:00 PM
📍 Medzi zvoničkami, Beckov
Come and discover an artwork that connects the geological past with the present and will gradually evolve alongside the surrounding nature. And the most exciting part? You can become part of it too!

A Stone That Tells a Story Millions of Years Old
Sown in Sediments consists of a monumental block of limestone from the nearby Čachtice quarry. Formed over millions of years on the seabeds of ancient seas and oceans, the stone preserves traces of the past within it.
The artist, however, has placed it in an unusual position – its naturally horizontal layers have been turned vertically. Grooves have been carved into the stone using 3D milling technology, creating space for new life and human stories.
The artwork is not completed when it is installed. Quite the opposite – that is when its story truly begins.
Visitors can place seeds, plants, twigs or small messages into the milled grooves. Over time, a new layer will emerge, created collectively by people, nature and time.
Rainwater will help the seeds germinate, plants will find their place, and wind, frost and sunlight will continue to reshape the artwork. The object will thus become a living record of our presence in the landscape.

About the LANDMARKS / STOPS IN THE LANDSCAPE Project
LANDMARKS / STOPS IN THE LANDSCAPE is a series of site-specific artistic interventions created for locations across the Považie region, near cycling routes and hiking trails.
The individual artworks serve as both landmarks and places for contemplation within the landscape – places where visitors can pause, take in their surroundings and discover the historical, natural and cultural layers of the environment.
The project aims to create artworks that respond sensitively to the environments in which they are situated, offering a fresh perspective on the relationship between landscape, memory, movement and the way we perceive the world around us today. LANDMARKS thus connects art with the exploration of the region, inviting visitors to rediscover familiar places from a new perspective.
Come and sow a new story into the stone with us. Perhaps your seed will be the one that eventually grows. 🌱
The activity is organised in cooperation with the Regional Tourism Organisation Región Považie (OOCR Región Považie). The activity is implemented with financial support from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Slovak Republic.
