The electropop band Midi Lidi was formed in 2006 and is considered one of the mainstays of the Czech and Slovak music scenes. The group is known for its original fusion of electronic music, humor, a strong visual identity, and a significant crossover into film, theatre, and television.
Their debut album Čekání na robota was nominated for the Anděl Award, and the band quickly gained recognition from both critics and audiences. Midi Lidi are highly sought-after composers of film and stage music – they won a Czech Lion Award for the soundtrack to the film Protektor and have contributed to numerous acclaimed films, TV series, and theatre productions, including Kancelář Blaník and Prezident Blaník.
They have released several albums, maintain an intensive concert schedule both at home and abroad, and are active in remixes, cover versions, and cross-genre collaborations. Their work is playful, ironic, formally free, and has long been among the most distinctive expressions of contemporary Central European electropop.
